Accounting Specialist

The candidate will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. The candidate will be responsible for preparing GAAP financials, reconciling bank statements, managing the accounts receivable and accounts payables department under the direction of the CFO. A successful candidate should be detail oriented, organized, and familiar with all accounting procedures.  

Essential Job Functions

  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, fixed assets and accruals for SOS
  • Record merchant accounts transactions daily and reconcile merchant accounts monthly
  • Record cash receipts and bank deposits & Review daily cash activity
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
  • Maintain records in preparation for future external audit/review
  • Assist Outside Accounting Firm with the preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring
  • Prepare monthly sales commission calculations and provide to payroll on a timely basis.
  • Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations
  • Set up vendor folders with agreements and W9 form prior to issuing payments
  • Respond to all vendor inquiries
  • Generate year-end 1099s and distribute accordingly per deadlines
  • Complete and file business license renewals
  • Reconcile payroll accounts monthly
  • Ensure credit card payments are timely made; truck and asset payments made timely
  • Maintain chart of accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting e-filing system
  • Provide support for external CPAs regarding annual tax preparation
  • Maintain a fiduciary duty
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
  • Coordination of day-to-day activities in the accounting and financial reporting areas, ensuring that appropriate internal controls are employed and that the processing of transactions occur on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Management and safeguarding of cash and other assets.
  • Interface with third party software’s such Quickbooks
  • Development of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, trends, and other matters impacting the fiscal soundness and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Follows and implements all company established policies, procedures, and objectives, including safety standards.

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is a minimum requirement.
