Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
The historic core of Corona, in western Riverside County, is laid out inside a circle. Grand Boulevard, the three-mile ring around Sixth and Main Streets, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011, and by 1940 houses already occupied the southern half of it. The city's downtown plan names Victorian, Craftsman bungalow, Spanish Revival and Tudor among the common styles of the pre-1950 homes in those neighborhoods.
A house of that age usually comes with porch steps, tight turns between rooms and old trim that shows every scrape. Our crew lays floor runners, pads door frames and banisters, and takes apart bed frames and tables that won't clear a hallway in one piece.
Past the Circle, much of Corona was built as master-planned tracts under their own specific plans: Sierra del Oro, Corona Ranch, Mountain Gate, Eagle Glen, Dos Lagos, Arantine Hills and Skyline Heights among them. Sierra del Oro and Eagle Glen both carry hillside districts, where a sloped driveway can keep the truck down at the curb and turn the walk to the front door into the longest part of the job. On those streets the crew settles the parking spot before anything leaves the house and runs the load on dollies.
Some newer streets are private. In the Eagle Glen neighborhood of detached condominium homes known in the plan as SF-3, streets may be private and gated entries are optional, with the homeowners' association maintaining the pavement. If your street sits behind a gate, put the crew on the entry list and ask the HOA or property manager whether they need a certificate of insurance; SOS issues a COI for $50.
Corona caps street parking for any vehicle at 72 hours, and the city is stricter about things that stay behind. A storage pod needs an encroachment permit from the Development Services Division before it goes on a public or private street or alley for any length of time. A pod kept in the driveway longer than 5 days needs a Temporary Use Permit from the Planning Division, which can run up to 120 days.
Both permits come out of the Planning and Development Department at City Hall on South Vicentia Avenue, and City Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Fridays. For a Saturday move with a pod at the curb, plan to finish that paperwork by Thursday afternoon.
Collection day changes the curb as well. Corona allows residential carts at the curb from 4 p.m. the day before pickup until noon the day after, and on a street lined with carts the space for a truck gets short. Tell us your collection day when you book, and the parking plan will account for it.
Three parts of town show how much the day can vary for movers in Corona. Sierra del Oro is the city's southwestern gateway: its specific plan places it south of Green River Road, in sight of the 91 and close to the Orange County line, which makes it one of the first Corona neighborhoods a truck reaches from Los Angeles. The drive in is short by local standards, and the hillside estate lots are where the hours go.
The Circle runs on a different clock. The downtown plan notes that commuter cut-through traffic has added congestion along the Sixth Street corridor, and North Main Street is the downtown link to SR-91. For a home on or near Sixth, the truck usually goes on a side street rather than the arterial itself, and the carry is planned from there.
Eagle Glen sits south of downtown in Bedford Canyon, between I-15 and the Cleveland National Forest, built around an 18-hole golf course. Lots there range from detached condominium homes to half-acre estates, so one street calls for a compact load at a condo door and the next for a long driveway carry. From the 91 the truck turns south on I-15 to the Cajalco Road interchange, one more freeway change on the way in.
| Area or home type in Corona | What to plan for on move day |
|---|---|
| Pre-1950 houses inside the Grand Boulevard circle | Porch steps and tight turns; floor runners and door-frame pads; commuter traffic along Sixth Street |
| Sierra del Oro hillside lots | Close to the Green River Road exit; the truck may stay at the curb below a sloped driveway, so the carry runs long |
| Eagle Glen SF-3 private streets | Gated entries are optional there; confirm the entry list and ask the HOA about a certificate of insurance |
| Any street where a pod will sit | Encroachment permit before the pod arrives; a Temporary Use Permit if it stays in the driveway past 5 days |
| Your block on collection day | Carts can be out from 4 p.m. the day before until noon the day after, so curb space shrinks |
Our moving services in Corona start at 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles, the only base SOS runs. The route is I-5 south to SR-91 east, about 39.7 miles and around 49 minutes without traffic. The 91 is a major commuter route between Riverside County and jobs in Orange and Los Angeles counties, and the Santa Ana Canyon is where it jams.
Mornings, the heavy flow runs west, toward Orange County. RCTC opened an extra westbound lane from the Green River Road on-ramp to the 241 toll road in January 2022 to ease that morning crawl. In the afternoon and evening the pressure flips east, and Caltrans and RCTC both point to eastbound 91 through the canyon as the congested side of the day.
Inside our 8AM – 6PM window, that favors a certain shape of day. A truck leaving Los Angeles in the morning runs against the commute, and a Los Angeles-to-Corona move that finishes loading by midday usually crosses the canyon ahead of the eastbound peak. A load that wraps up late in the afternoon meets it head-on.
The minimum for a Corona address is 4 hours instead of 3, because the house is more than 30 miles from our base, and double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles. Crews work Monday through Sunday, and a same-day move is possible when a crew is free.
Eastvale starts just north of Corona across the Santa Ana River, and I-15 ties the two cities together, so a move between them is a short freeway hop rather than a canyon run. Our page on moving in Eastvale covers its side of the river.
Chino Hills lies to the northwest, reached by the 71, which begins at the 91 in Corona and runs north along the Chino Valley. Routes and housing there are on the Chino Hills moving page.
Ontario is farther up I-15, past Eastvale, so a Corona-to-Ontario move stays on one freeway for most of the trip. Details are on our Ontario movers page.
Corona runs its own water utility. New service starts through the Utilities Department's Customer Care team, by phone or at City Hall, and the city adds a charge when a start is requested close to the end of the business day, so book it a few days before the keys change hands. The city also sells electricity, but only inside its own service area, and the department asks new customers to check that first.
Furniture that is not making the trip can leave with WM, the city's hauler. Corona residents get up to three free bulky-item collections a year, up to six bulk items each, booked at least 48 hours before the regular service day. Clearing those pieces out before moving day keeps them off the truck and off the hourly clock.
If boxing up the house is the holdup, packing crews can take it off your hands. If the closing date and the move-out date don't line up, storage keeps furniture off the street, where a pod would need that encroachment permit. Businesses in the industrial strip north of the Circle, along the 91 and Temescal Creek, can book commercial moves on the same Monday-to-Sunday schedule.
