Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.

Rancho Cucamonga became a city in 1977, when the unincorporated communities of Alta Loma, Cucamonga and Etiwanda incorporated together in San Bernardino County. The city's Housing Element describes eight community planning areas, six of them residential: those three plus Red Hill, the Eastside and Central North. It notes that each has its own history, housing type, lot pattern and street layout, so for a moving crew the neighborhood says more about the day than the square footage does.
Houses dominate. Of the 59,440 homes the state counted in 2020, 68.7 percent were single-family and 28.7 percent sat in multi-family buildings, and the city also had eight mobile home parks with about 1,550 homes. The usual Rancho job is a house with a garage and a driveway: the crew pads furniture where it stands, covers floors and door frames along the exit path, and takes beds and tables apart before anything rolls to the truck.
The municipal code bans commercial vehicles rated at 10,000 pounds or more from parking on streets in residential districts, and a full-size moving truck falls under that rule. The same code, in line with California Vehicle Code section 22507.5, exempts a vehicle while it is actively making pickups or deliveries. That is why the truck sits at your curb only while the crew is loading or unloading, not before the job starts or after it ends.
Trucks over three tons are also held to designated truck routes inside the city. Vehicle Code section 35703 lets a truck leave a route by the direct way to reach a pickup or delivery, so the driver stays on the through streets and turns onto your block only for the final stretch.
Nine small areas are residential permit parking districts under Chapter 10.50, and their permits exempt residents and their guests from some on-street limits. Three of them cluster around Almond and Sapphire streets, where the city also sells parking for Cucamonga Canyon; others include Apple Lane north of Wilson Avenue and North Rim Way east of Etiwanda Avenue. If you live in one, read the sign on your block and mention the district when you book, so the parking plan works around it.
The city's densest zoning is the Empire Lakes Specific Plan, which allows 14 to 80 units per acre, and The Resort has an approved plan for up to 2,000 units north of 6th Street. Buildings at that density usually come with a management office, elevators and written move rules. Reserve the elevator yourself, ask the office whether it wants a certificate of insurance (SOS issues one for $50) and send us the building's move window before the date is set; the apartment moving service page covers the rest of that kind of day.
Alta Loma fills the northwest corner of the city and reaches the foothill open space to the north, with a strong equestrian heritage. The city's 2023 Connect RC plan lists gutterless streetscapes and large shade trees among its features, and residents told planners that older parts have no sidewalks at all. There the truck parks at a street edge with no curb, the dolly path may cross dirt or gravel, and the crew checks branch height over the parking lane before backing toward a driveway.
Etiwanda, in the northeast corner, keeps the rural character that the Housing Element calls a dominant feature of the historic community, and SR-210 runs through it from east to west. Walk audits around ten Etiwanda-area schools found sidewalks that are narrow, uneven or interrupted by gaps. On those blocks furniture rolls up the driveway and along the street edge instead of the walk, with pads on every piece.
The newest part of the Etiwanda side is Etiwanda Heights, added to the city when the county's LAFCO approved the annexation on November 9, 2020. Its plan keeps a 3,603-acre conservation area and allows 2,700 to 3,000 single-family homes, with roundabouts at intersections. If the closing date on a new home there slips, storage between move-out and move-in holds the furniture until the keys arrive.
Central North is home to Terra Vista and Victoria, planned communities the city approved in 1983 and 1981 and now largely built out. Connect RC points to the many paseos in the Mountain View area, including one from Town Center Drive to Terra Vista Parkway, and Victoria Groves has a paseo of its own. When a front door faces a paseo instead of a street, the walk to the truck gets longer, so the crew wraps each piece indoors and keeps one clear lane along the path.
| Area or home type in Rancho Cucamonga | What to plan for on move day |
|---|---|
| Older Alta Loma streets without gutters or sidewalks | Truck at the street edge, a dolly path over dirt or gravel, branch height over the parking lane |
| Permit districts around Almond and Sapphire streets | Posted district rules on the block; name the district when booking |
| Etiwanda and Etiwanda Heights | Uneven or interrupted sidewalks, roundabouts on new streets, closing dates on new homes |
| Terra Vista and Victoria Groves homes on paseos | Longer carry from door to truck; HOA rules on trucks and hours if the tract has an association |
| Empire Lakes and The Resort apartments | Elevator reservation, a $50 certificate of insurance if management asks, the building's move window |
| The city's eight mobile home parks | Private park streets; ask the manager where the truck can stand |
Every SOS crew leaves from one base, 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles. The route to Rancho Cucamonga runs SR-60 → I-605 → I-10, about 39.6 miles and around 53 minutes without traffic. Morning commuters on I-10 and SR-60 pour west toward Los Angeles, so a truck heading east early runs against the heavier flow; the late-afternoon rush is the part of the day to plan around.
Rancho Cucamonga sits past the 30-mile line from Jillson Street, so the minimum here is 4 hours, not 3. When you compare movers in Rancho Cucamonga, ask how travel time is billed; at SOS, double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles. Our moving services in Rancho Cucamonga run Monday through Sunday, 8AM to 6PM, and a same-day move is possible when a crew is free. A full Alta Loma or Etiwanda house bound for Los Angeles uses much of that window, so boxes packed and closets emptied before the crew arrives keep the job inside it.
The city keeps a Windy Weather Information page for Santa Ana wind forecasts, with the police non-emergency line for trees down in the road, and National Weather Service advisories warn that strong gusts make driving hard for high-profile vehicles. A loaded box truck is one, and a mattress carried across an open driveway turns into a sail. On those days the crew straps loads tighter, carries mirrors and tabletops with two people, and keeps the truck doors shut between trips.
The same city page links to Southern California Edison's Public Safety Power Shutoff alerts. If a shutoff notice covers your address on move day, find the manual release on your garage door or gate before the crew arrives, because an opener without battery backup will not run.
Upland borders Alta Loma on the west, and Foothill Boulevard and SR-210 run through both cities, so a move between them stays on one corridor; see moving in Upland for that side of the line. Ontario lies directly south along 4th Street, and the drive from Los Angeles leaves I-10 and crosses Ontario on its way north, which makes movers serving Ontario the closest match for moves between the two. For Fontana, on the far side of I-15, and cities farther east, the Inland Empire moving page covers the wider region.
