Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.

Panorama City, the San Fernando Valley district of the City of Los Angeles, started out as a planned community right after World War II. Developer Fritz Burns built it for Henry J. Kaiser's Kaiser Community Homes, to a master plan by the architects Wurdeman and Becket. The city's SurveyLA inventory still traces the original tract: about 54 blocks between Van Nuys Boulevard and Woodman Avenue, from Roscoe Boulevard north to Osborne Street, with nearly 1,700 Minimal Traditional houses, most of them built between 1947 and 1952.
The Los Angeles Conservancy notes that most Kaiser homes were pre-milled and shop-fabricated by Kaiser shipbuilders at a factory near LAX, then put together on site in a few weeks. They were built small, and a modern sectional or a king bed frame has little room to turn in those rooms and halls. Our crew takes bed frames, table legs and hutches apart before the carry starts and pads the door frames on the way out.
South of Roscoe, Van Nuys Gardens added about 700 houses in 1949 and 1950 on a 145-acre site next to the General Motors assembly plant. SurveyLA singles out its street trees: camphor, American sweetgum and Southern magnolia, planted with the tract, whose canopies close over the streets. Low limbs over the curb can catch the top of a truck box, so the crew looks for a spot where the branches clear and asks you to keep that stretch free of cars.
The same survey lists what owners changed there over the decades: new windows and doors, new wall cladding, and perimeter fences and walls. A gate added later can be narrower than the front door, so the crew measures it along with the doorways before a sofa or a fridge heads out.
Nearly two in three Panorama City households rent. Mapping L.A., the Los Angeles Times profile built on census data, counts 64% renters, an average household of 3.6 people and 18,028 residents per square mile, among the highest densities in Los Angeles. With that many people per household, a two-bedroom unit can hold a family's worth of beds, dressers and kitchen boxes, so price a three-mover crew ($159 an hour cash or $169 by card, Monday through Thursday) before settling on two. Our apartment moving crews handle the carry, and our packing service can take the kitchen and closets off your list.
Courtyard buildings set the carry. SurveyLA describes Taos West at 7924 Woodman Avenue, designed in 1971 by actress Jane Russell, as three buildings with two floors of homes above tuck-under parking, reached through a chain of courtyards. In a layout like that the truck stays on the street and everything rolls through the courtyards on dollies, so the crew walks the route first and pads the tight corners.
Taos West opened as apartments and later became condominiums, which puts an owners' association in charge of the shared spaces. An association may ask movers for a certificate of insurance; SOS issues a COI for $50, and the resident reserves any elevator time or move window the association sets.
For local movers in Panorama City, the curb decides how the day goes. The district has no city hall of its own; it is part of Los Angeles, so requests for temporary no-parking signs go through LADOT's Special Traffic Control Division. State law lets the city tow a car from a spot reserved this way when the notice signs went up at least 24 hours before, so the signs need to be posted a day or more ahead. If your block fills with parked cars, we ask you to set this up early, and the crew builds the parking plan around that stretch of curb.
Van Nuys Boulevard, the west edge of the old Kaiser tract, will stay a work zone for years. Metro is building the East San Fernando Valley light rail along it, 11 stations from the G Line to San Fernando Road, with phased traffic changes and K-rail barriers, and lists 2031 as the estimated completion. For an address on the boulevard or just off it, the crew plans a side-street spot and a longer dolly run rather than counting on the boulevard curb.
| Area or home type in Panorama City | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Original Kaiser tract: Van Nuys Blvd to Woodman Ave, Roscoe Blvd to Osborne St | Small houses, mostly from 1947 to 1952; take beds and tables apart before the carry and pad the door frames |
| Van Nuys Gardens, south of Roscoe Blvd | Camphor, sweetgum and magnolia canopies over the curb; find a truck spot the branches clear and measure any front gate added later |
| Addresses on Van Nuys Boulevard | Light rail construction with K-rail and phased lane changes; plan a side-street spot and a longer carry |
| Courtyard condos over tuck-under parking, such as Taos West on Woodman Ave | Everything moves by hand through the courtyards; ask the association whether it wants a COI or a set move window |
Every SOS crew starts from one base, 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles. Panorama City is about 26.8 miles from it via I-5, around 36 minutes without traffic, and weekday rush hours can stretch that leg well past the free-flow time. Our day runs 8AM – 6PM, Monday through Sunday, and a same-day move is possible when a crew is free.
Since the district is under 30 miles from the base, the 3-hour minimum applies, not the 4-hour one for farther addresses. On our local moving rates, two movers and a truck cost $119 an hour cash or $129 by card Monday through Thursday, and $135 or $145 Friday through Sunday. When you compare quotes from a Panorama City moving company, check how drive time is billed: our rate page states that double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
Van Nuys begins at Panorama City's southern edge, and the two share Van Nuys Boulevard and its light rail work. A move between them is short on miles, yet if either address sits on the boulevard, the side-street parking plan applies at that end too.
Northridge lies just past North Hills, which borders both districts, and Sherman Oaks is a longer run south, beyond Van Nuys and Valley Glen. Both are part of Los Angeles, so no-parking signs at the far end go through the same LADOT process you would use in Panorama City.
