Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
This is Westminster in Orange County, California, not the Denver suburb or the London borough, and its housing looks different from most of the region. The Census Bureau's 2024 survey counts about 29,000 homes in the city, and roughly one in ten is a mobile home, compared with fewer than one in fifty across the Los Angeles–Long Beach–Anaheim metro. Single-unit homes make up about 61 percent of the stock, and multi-unit buildings less than a third. That split shapes moving services in Westminster: most jobs start at a driveway and a garage, not an elevator lobby, so the carry path and the curb get planned first.
A mobile home moves differently from a stucco house on a slab. Doorways and hallways are narrower, the floor is framed over a steel chassis, and the entry is usually a short run of steps or a small deck. Our crew measures sofas, dressers and headboards against the door before anything is lifted, lays runners down the hall, and takes apart bed frames and tables that will not make the turn in one piece.
Westminster households are also larger than the regional norm, about 3.1 people per home against 2.8 for the metro, and they stay put: only about 7 percent moved in the prior year, and more than one household in ten has held the same address since before 1990. Long tenure fills garages and side yards. When we quote a Westminster house, we ask about the garage, the patio and any backyard shed, because that is where the hours go.
City code enforcement treats any commercially registered vehicle over 2,000 pounds as oversized and keeps it from being parked or stored in residential neighborhoods. Commercial vehicles are also limited to two hours on a city street unless they are loading, unloading or performing a service. So our truck shows up for the move, loads without long pauses and leaves; we do not park it on your street the evening before.
Chapter 10.44 of the municipal code lets a commercial vehicle that is actively loading or unloading back up to the curb instead of parallel parking, provided it does not reach past the street's center line. On a narrow tract street, backing in can shorten the carry from the front door to the ramp. The driver makes that call on site, after seeing how the block is parked.
Residential streets are swept between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the day posted for each tract, and the schedule sits on white signs with red lettering at the tract's entrance from the main road. Read that sign when you book. If your sweeping day and your moving day match, tell us, and we will time the curb spot around the sweeper.
The sidewalk has its own rule. Westminster's code bars leaving goods on a public sidewalk, the parkway strip or the street any longer than it takes to move them between the house and the vehicle. Our crew stages furniture in the garage or on the driveway and carries it straight up the ramp, so nothing waits on the parkway.
Bolsa Avenue is the main street of Little Saigon, and stretches of it have a frontage road beside the through lanes. Every year around the Lunar New Year the city stages the Tet Parade there, a tradition two decades old. In 2026 it ran east on Bolsa from Magnolia Street and turned south on Bushard Street to Bishop Place, and the southern frontage road between Purdy and Neece Streets closed at 7 a.m. the day before for float staging. For a move near Bolsa in late January or February, we check the city's closure notice before we confirm the date.
Near Goldenwest Street and Bolsa Avenue, beside the 405, the city adopted the Westminster Mall Specific Plan in November 2022. It allows up to 3,000 homes on the 98-acre mall site, mixed with shops, offices and hotels. As new buildings open there, each will set its own move-in rules, so send them to us at booking and we will plan the loading spot and the insurance certificate around them.
The county Office on Aging's 2021 list of senior mobile home parks includes six in Westminster: two on Bushard Street and one each on Beach Boulevard, Bolsa Avenue, Magnolia Street and Westminster Avenue. Park roads are private property, so the park manager decides where a box truck may stop. Check with the manager a few days before the move and pass the answer on to us.
| Area or home type in Westminster | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Single-family tracts off Beach Boulevard, Magnolia Street and the other main roads | Read the sweeping sign at the tract entrance; sweepers run 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the posted day |
| Senior mobile home parks on Bushard Street, Magnolia Street and Beach Boulevard | Ask the park manager where the truck may stop; measure big furniture against the front door |
| Homes and storefronts along Bolsa Avenue in Little Saigon | Around the Lunar New Year, read the Tet Parade closure notice, including the frontage road staging area |
| The Westminster Mall site at Goldenwest Street and Bolsa Avenue | Get the new building's move-in rules and certificate of insurance wording before booking |
| Apartment and condo complexes with metal dumpsters | Bulky items leaving with the move go through CR&R, not the sanitary district |
Our trucks leave the SOS base at 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles, head south on I-5, and come down Beach Boulevard, State Route 39, into Westminster. That run is about 21.4 miles, around 31 minutes without traffic. Beach Boulevard is a signal-controlled commuter road that feeds I-405, I-5, SR-91 and SR-22, and OCTA and Caltrans studied it as one corridor from La Habra to Huntington Beach.
Commute traffic on I-5 and on Beach Boulevard's long chain of signals can stretch that drive in the morning and late afternoon. Crews work Monday through Sunday, 8AM – 6PM, so a full house or a two-stop day goes on the calendar with an early start, which gives the unload a chance to finish before the evening rush builds.
Westminster is well inside 30 miles of the base, so the standard 3-hour minimum applies. When you compare quotes from any Westminster moving company, ask how drive time is billed; our rule is short: double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles. For two movers and a truck, Monday through Thursday rates are $119 an hour cash or $129 by card, and Friday through Sunday $135 or $145.
Beach Boulevard keeps running south past Westminster to Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, so a move between the two cities can stay on one boulevard for most of the trip. On the way in from I-5, our trucks pass through Garden Grove, which borders Westminster to the north, and SR-22 ties the two cities together as well. To the southeast, Fountain Valley sits on the same rebuilt stretch of I-405, where OCTA added a regular lane each way and built the 405 Express Lanes.
If you are lining up cross country movers in Westminster, shrink the load first. Two district bulky pickups booked 30 days apart clear four large pieces before moving day, and every piece left behind is one less to pad, strap and ship. Our long-distance moving service wraps and loads the rest, and from Beach Boulevard the truck reaches I-405 or SR-22 without crossing town. Interstate moves run under USDOT 3398018 and MC 1153871.
Anyone calling around for piano movers near Westminster should start with the home type. About one home in ten here is a mobile home, and a piano leaving one comes down entry steps and across a floor framed over a chassis, not a concrete slab. That is why our piano moving service runs only with a four-person crew, at $200 on top of the hourly rate.
Anyone doing business in Westminster needs a city business license, so a shop or office changing addresses should call the Business License Office at City Hall, 8200 Westminster Boulevard, before moving day. As commercial movers in Westminster, we plan store moves on Bolsa Avenue around the parade calendar: on the 2026 parade morning, Bolsa was closed from Newland Street to Bushard Street. Our office and commercial moving crews pack workstations, files and store fixtures, and a landlord's certificate of insurance adds $50.
