No, tips are not included, and it’s up to you how much to tip your movers. Tips are always appreciated but not required.
Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
La Habra covers 7.3 square miles at Orange County's northernmost corner, and its western city limit is also the Los Angeles County line. More of its homes went up in the 1950s than in any other decade, and detached single-family houses make up a little over half of the housing stock. For movers in La Habra, that means plenty of mid-century houses where furniture leaves through the front door and down the driveway, with no lobby or elevator in between. In a house of that age the crew lays floor runners, pads door frames and takes apart bed frames and tables that will not clear a hallway turn in one piece.
More than a quarter of La Habra's homes are in buildings with five or more units, and two-to-four-unit buildings add another 7.5 percent. There the carry runs down shared stairs and past the neighbors' doors, so the crew pads rails and landings and keeps the path clear between trips. That is how our apartment moving service handles shared buildings; if the manager assigns a loading spot or a move-in window, reserve it before the date is set.
Mobile homes take a bigger share of housing here than across Southern California's six-county planning region, and the city owns two parks outright: Park La Habra and View Park Mobile Estates. Each has a manager on site, and the city sends questions about park rules to those managers. Call the office before moving day to ask where a truck may stand; the crew wraps and disassembles furniture inside the home, so the truck spends less time on the park lane.
La Habra's overnight parking ordinance goes back to 1969. Municipal Code section 10.20.180 bars any vehicle from standing on a city street between 2 and 6 a.m. without a permit, and police enforce it Monday through Friday, holidays excepted. It catches people the night before a move, when cars get shifted to the curb to free the driveway. The police department allows a limited number of free temporary overnight requests per vehicle each year, guests included, so arrange one before moving the cars out.
The same rules spell out who never gets a permit: commercial vehicles and anything over 6,000 pounds gross weight. So a loaded moving truck, rented or ours, is not something to leave on a La Habra street through the 2-to-6 window. Our crews work 8AM – 6PM, and the truck stands at your curb only while they load or unload. Parking a car on the lawn to make room is out too, since section 18.10.050 prohibits it.
Street sweeping comes the day after your trash pickup, and the city's schedule by street name lists the day and hours for yours. Cars blocking the sweeper get a ticket each time, an overnight permit does not excuse them, and enforcement stops once the sweeper has passed. Tell us your sweep day when you book, and the parking plan will keep the truck and your cars out of its path.
Westridge is the hillside HOA community beside the Westridge golf course property on La Habra Hills Drive, south of Imperial Highway between Beach Boulevard and Idaho Street; its homeowners association keeps up landscaped slopes beside the course. An HOA writes its own move rules, so ask the Westridge Community Homeowners Association what it requires before you pick a date. If the association wants a certificate of insurance, SOS issues one for $50.
Beach Boulevard, Whittier Boulevard and Imperial Highway are state routes that Caltrans maintains inside La Habra, and together with La Habra Boulevard they form the city's main commercial corridors. For an apartment or condo on one of them, the crew loads from the building's lot or the nearest side street, never from a travel lane. Ask the building manager to confirm where the truck may stand before moving day.
Once a year the La Habra Host Lions Club puts on the Corn Festival at El Centro-Lions Park on Erna Avenue, a tradition that dates to 1947, and the program includes a parade on La Habra Boulevard. The city posts road-closure notices for the festival. If your move lands on festival weekend and you live near the boulevard, check those closures before settling on a start time.
| Area or home type in La Habra | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Mid-century single-family house | Clear the driveway ahead of time; cars moved to the street fall under the 2-to-6 rule, and the lawn is off limits |
| Building with five or more units | Reserve the loading spot or move-in window the manager sets; expect shared stairs and landings |
| Park La Habra or View Park Mobile Estates | Ask the on-site manager about park rules and where the truck may stand on the lane |
| Westridge, off La Habra Hills Drive | Get the HOA's move requirements in writing, including whether it needs a certificate of insurance |
| Address on Beach Boulevard, Whittier Boulevard or Imperial Highway | Plan loading from a lot or side street, clear of traffic lanes, and allow for cross-town rush traffic |
| Near La Habra Boulevard on Corn Festival weekend | Check the city's road-closure notice for the parade before picking a start time |
The city's name comes from Rancho Cañada de La Habra, the "pass through the hills" to the north, and the town still behaves like a pass. Our base on Jillson Street in Los Angeles is about 15.2 miles away, mostly via I-5, around 26 minutes without traffic. The final stretch is on surface streets, and La Habra's own bike plan notes that drivers heading to or from I-5, SR-57, SR-60 and SR-91 tend to travel through the city.
So weekday rush hours stack up twice: first on the freeway, then on Beach Boulevard, Imperial Highway and Whittier Boulevard as commuters cross town. Our crews work Monday through Sunday, 8AM – 6PM, and a morning start keeps more of the job ahead of the afternoon build-up. Because La Habra sits well inside the 30-mile line, the 3-hour minimum applies; as our rates page puts it, double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
If you need local movers in La Habra on short notice, a same-day moving service is possible when a crew is free that day. Have the sweep day and any HOA or park requirements ready when you call, since those details decide whether a short-notice date can work.
Brea shares La Habra's eastern edge, so a move between the two is a short hop across a city line; the details for that side are on our page for moving crews in Brea. La Mirada lies across the western limit, which turns a La Habra-to-La Mirada move into a change of county as well as city, and our La Mirada moving page covers the Los Angeles County side. Fullerton borders La Habra on the south and along part of the east, and local moves in Fullerton have their own page.
