Sure, our movers can bring packing materials and boxes if you need them. Make sure you mention that you need them to our operators in advance.
No, tips are not included, and it’s up to you how much to tip your movers. Tips are always appreciated but not required.
Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
Tustin, in central Orange County, fits three building eras inside one city line. The city's 2021 historic resources survey evaluated buildings up to 1976 across the Cultural Resources District around Old Town and most other neighborhoods, yet it left out Tustin Ranch and Tustin Legacy. That split is a useful first sort for movers in Tustin: the older the block, the more the house itself shapes the day.
The survey names the styles that keep turning up here: Italianate, Eastlake and Queen Anne houses from the Victorian years, Craftsman and stone houses, then Spanish Colonial, Tudor and Mission revivals. Houses of that age tend to mean porch steps, original wood floors and interior doors sized for smaller furniture. The crew lays runners on the floors, pads the door frames and takes legs and headboards off before anything heads for a doorway.
Tustin Legacy is the opposite case. Its newer neighborhoods include Tustin Field, Columbus Square, Greenwood and Levity, and Levity alone puts townhomes, flats and detached houses on one site of about 15 acres next to Greenwood. A townhome means interior stairs on every trip, while a flat can mean a corridor and a shared entry, so the carry, not the square footage, sets the pace of the job.
Tustin Ranch, which got its own 92782 ZIP code, was approved in 1986 as an Irvine Company planned community, with housing that runs from large detached homes to apartments. In tracts planned that way, the parking answer usually comes from an HOA or a leasing office rather than a city sign, so that is the first call to make once the date is set.
One catch: not every Tustin mailing address is in the city. Lemon Heights, Cowan Heights, Panorama Heights and the rest of North Tustin are unincorporated County of Orange land, served by the 92705 ZIP and part of 92780. City of Tustin parking programs stop at the city line; up in those foothills the questions are the driveway grade, the street width and how close a truck can get to the front door.
Tustin sweeps its streets every week, keeps the schedule even in bad weather, and has enforced parking restrictions on sweeping days since October 2020. If the move lands on your street's sweeping day, read the posted hours on the nearest sign and keep the truck off that curb during the window. Observed city holidays and the December 24 – January 1 break have no sweeping, which makes a holiday-week curb easier to plan.
Some blocks sit inside the city's Preferential Permit Parking districts, shown on the police department's 2023 district map. Those restrictions run from 2 to 6 a.m., seven days a week, so a truck loading between 8AM and 6PM never meets them. Relatives who come to help and stay over are another story: their cars need one of the household's guest passes, which are virtual, tied to the license plate and capped at 75 per household every six months.
The same program's Good Neighbor Policy tells residents not to set out cones or move trash bins to claim street parking when that blocks collection, driveways or traffic. So room for the truck has to come from your side of the curb: move your own cars into the garage or driveway the night before and tell us where the truck can stand.
Associations add their own layer. Tustin Meadows Community Association says its commercial-vehicle rules are aimed at overnight parking and keeps the clubhouse lot for people using the clubhouse and pool, so a daytime moving truck parks on the street there, clear of the sidewalk. The association's parking FAQ also calls Monday mornings sweeping mornings and notes that the clubhouses are rented on most weekends.
If an association or property manager asks for a certificate of insurance, SOS issues the COI for $50; send us the exact names and wording the manager wants on it. Booking a freight elevator, a loading area or a gate pass is the resident's task with the building office, and the crew plans the day around the slot you get.
| Area or type of home in Tustin | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Old Town and the Cultural Resources District | Victorian, Craftsman and revival-era houses: porch steps, older wood floors, narrow interior doors. Check the posted sweeping hours on the street. |
| Tustin Meadows | The clubhouse lot belongs to clubhouse and pool users, and Monday mornings are sweeping mornings. The truck stands on the street, off the sidewalk. |
| Tustin Ranch (92782) | A planned community approved in 1986. Ask the HOA or leasing office where a truck may stand and, if your tract is gated, how the crew gets in. |
| Tustin Legacy: Tustin Field, Columbus Square, Greenwood, Levity | Townhomes, flats and detached houses side by side. Say which one you have when you book: townhome stairs and flat corridors change the carry. |
| Permit parking districts | Restrictions apply from 2 to 6 a.m. daily, so daytime loading is clear. No cones or shifted trash bins to hold the curb; overnight guests need a virtual pass. |
| North Tustin foothills: Lemon Heights, Cowan Heights, Panorama Heights | Unincorporated county land, outside the city's parking programs. Describe the driveway grade and street width when you book. |
Crews leave the base at 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles and take I-5 south: about 27.9 miles, around 35 minutes without traffic. The freeway runs through Santa Ana right before the Tustin exits, and the North Tustin foothills border Santa Ana on the west, so a move between the two cities is a short hop on roads the crew already drives; see moving in Santa Ana.
South of the SR-55 interchange, OCTA and Caltrans are widening I-5 through Tustin and Irvine, adding a regular lane each way, merge lanes and reworked ramps at select interchanges. The Tustin stretch, Yale Avenue to SR-55, is scheduled to stay under construction into late 2029, so ramp layouts near the Tustin exits may shift as the work moves. The project runs on south to I-405, and the same lane and ramp changes matter for moving in Irvine.
Weekday commute hours slow I-5 through central Orange County in the morning and again in the late afternoon. Our hours are 8AM – 6PM, Monday through Sunday, and an early weekday start or a weekend date keeps more of the job clear of commute traffic.
Tustin sits under the 30-mile mark from the base, so the 3-hour minimum applies rather than the 4-hour one, and double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles. Hourly rates for moving services in Tustin match the rest of the service area: two movers with a truck run $119 an hour cash or $129 by card Monday through Thursday, and $135 or $145 Friday through Sunday.
A long-distance move is the time to shed furniture, and Tustin gives single-family homes a head start: CR&R, the city's trash hauler, collects bulky items up to four times a calendar year at no extra cost, up to four items per pickup. Condo and apartment residents go through their property manager, and multifamily pickups carry a fee. If you're comparing long distance moving companies in Tustin, CA, book the last pickup before packing day, then see how our long-distance moving service handles the rest.
Moving in runs the other way. Once the boxes are empty, a single-family home can book a free CR&R pickup of flattened cardboard, so the pile left by our packing crew doesn't camp in the garage. Business moves are a separate case: offices, clinics and shop suites answer to landlords and center managers with rules of their own, covered on our page about office and retail moves in Tustin.
