Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
Woodland Hills is a City of Los Angeles neighborhood in the southwest corner of the San Fernando Valley, 14.77 square miles by the Los Angeles Times Mapping L.A. count, and it contains Warner Center. The city has been reshaping that district under its Warner Center 2035 Plan, adopted in 2013 to turn West Valley superblocks into a dense, walkable center, and most of the growth since has been housing. So for a Woodland Hills moving company, a Warner Center job often starts with building paperwork rather than with furniture.
In a large Warner Center apartment building the elevator and the loading area are shared, so management decides when your move can happen. Reserve the elevator first, ask where the truck is supposed to stop, then book the crew around that window. On the day, our movers pad each piece inside the unit, hang protection in the elevator, guard hallway corners and send down full, planned loads so the reservation isn't burned on half-empty trips. That is everyday work for our apartment movers.
Office towers make up a large share of what Warner Center has built, and an office move there runs on the property manager's schedule: dock time, the freight elevator and a certificate of insurance on file before the first cart rolls in. If you are comparing office movers in Woodland Hills, ask each one how it handles those three items. SOS issues the COI for $50 and books crews seven days a week, so a Saturday or Sunday move that keeps the office closed for less of the workweek is an option; see commercial and office moving.
South of Ventura Boulevard, Woodland Hills climbs into the Santa Monica Mountains, and the streets bend with the slope. Topanga and Pacific Palisades are on its Mapping L.A. list of neighbors, which tells you how far up the ridge the neighborhood reaches. Houses sit above or below the curb, so a short distance on a map can turn into a long walk with a dresser. The crew plans those homes as a carry: dollies and pads for the path, runners on the floors, covers on door jambs, and beds and big tables taken apart when a stair turn is tight.
Parts of those hills fall inside the city's Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, where some narrow streets carry "Red Flag Days" no-parking signs. When the Los Angeles Fire Department declares a Red Flag day, vehicles left at those posted curbs are towed, so engines can get through narrow roads, sharp curves and hairpin turns while residents get out. LADOT has installed more than 1,700 of these signs, and news coverage of past Red Flag days has named Woodland Hills among the affected neighborhoods.
The tow rule covers moving trucks too. LAFD offers Red Flag alerts by text, phone or email, and every city fire station flies a red flag while a declaration is on. Check lafd.org/redflag the day before the move; if restrictions are on and your block is posted, let us know, and the crew will stage the truck at the nearest legal curb and plan for the longer carry.
A piano on one of these streets is a different job from a piano in an elevator building. Steep driveways and outdoor steps set the pace, and SOS moves pianos only with a 4-mover crew, with a $200 piano charge, so there are enough hands on every step. Before you book Woodland Hills piano movers, count the steps and measure the tightest turn, then check piano moving for what to expect.
Woodland Hills began in 1922 as Girard, the town Victor Girard laid out where Topanga Canyon Boulevard meets Ventura Boulevard. On Ventura today, and on the wide arterials of Warner Center, a moving truck competes with customers and commuters for the curb. Park in a red zone or a bus stop for an hour of loading and the day gets expensive fast.
Because the whole neighborhood is inside the City of Los Angeles, requests for temporary no-parking signs go through LADOT's Special Traffic Control Division. If you want curb space held in front of a building on the boulevard, start that request well before the date and keep the approval with you on moving day.
Condo associations and apartment managers in Warner Center write their own move rules, so ask before you choose a date: which hours allow moves, how the elevator is reserved, and whether the building needs a certificate of insurance with specific holder wording. SOS issues that COI for $50; if the building has a sample certificate, send it along so the wording matches on the first try. The elevator booking is yours to make, and we schedule the crew around the window you get.
Mapping L.A.'s census profile describes an older neighborhood with small households: a median age of 40, old for Los Angeles, and 2.3 people per household, low for the city. When a family house in the hills gives way to a Warner Center apartment, there is usually more furniture than floor plan. Measure the new rooms, mark what stays behind before loading starts, and send the overflow to storage instead of stacking it in the new living room.
Each row below is a different kind of Woodland Hills address. Here is how they compare once the truck is on its way:
| Area or home type in Woodland Hills | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Warner Center apartment buildings | Elevator and loading-area booking through management, a COI if the building asks for one, planned elevator loads |
| Warner Center office buildings | Dock and freight elevator times from the property manager, a COI, weekend dates if weekdays are off limits |
| Hillside homes south of Ventura Boulevard | Possible "Red Flag Days" no-parking signs, sloped driveways and steps, disassembly for tight stair turns |
| Ventura Boulevard near Topanga Canyon Boulevard | Shared commercial curb, LADOT temporary no-parking signs if the curb must be held |
| Homes on the Valley floor near Pierce College | Summer heat: an 8AM start, with heat-sensitive items riding in your car |
From our base on Jillson Street, the usual run is I-5 → SR-134, and where the 134 ends the Ventura Freeway carries on west as the 101 into Woodland Hills. That is about 33.8 miles, around 42 minutes without traffic. At commute hours the 134 and the 101 across the Valley slow down in both directions, the 405 interchange in Sherman Oaks sits right on the way, and the same trip can run much longer.
Those numbers shape every quote for moving services in Woodland Hills. Because the neighborhood is more than 30 miles from base, the minimum here is 4 hours rather than 3, and double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
Crews work Monday through Sunday, 8AM – 6PM, so a hillside house with long carries is a job to start at 8AM; a noon start can push the unload right up against 6PM. Same-day moves happen when a crew is free, but a Woodland Hills request has to come in early enough to cover the drive out and still finish by 6PM.
Heat is the other scheduling factor. On September 6, 2020, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, the official station at Pierce College recorded 121°F, the highest temperature ever measured at an official station in Los Angeles County, beating the 119°F that Woodland Hills itself set in July 2006. For a late-summer move, take the 8AM start and carry candles, vinyl records, medications and electronics in your own car instead of a closed truck; a piano, too, should spend as little time as possible in a hot truck box.
Canoga Park borders Woodland Hills on the north, along with West Hills and Winnetka. Topanga Canyon Boulevard runs straight from Woodland Hills into Canoga Park, so a move between the two is a short surface-street trip under the same city rules. Details for that side are on our Canoga Park movers page.
Reseda is another neighbor on the Mapping L.A. list, out across the flat Valley floor to the northeast. With no hillside approach at either end, a move from Reseda to a Warner Center apartment comes down to parking and building rules; see movers for Reseda.
Calabasas begins at the western edge, along the same Ventura Freeway, but it is a separate city with its own permits and its own rules, so the answers change at the line. Calabasas moves have their own page.
