Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
Anyone pricing moving services in Fullerton should start with who lives where. The city's 2021–2029 Housing Element, citing Census estimates, puts owner-occupied homes at about 52 percent and rentals at 48, and notes that householders under 45 lean toward renting. A moving day here is as likely to begin at an apartment stairwell as at a family driveway, and the crew prepares for either.
Fullerton even has its own zone for garden-type apartments, R-G. It caps those buildings at one story within 50 feet of a single-family lot and two stories between 50 and 100 feet, so complexes beside house streets stay low: walk-ups, often with outdoor stairs and long paths from the parking area. Our movers pad stair rails and corners and work out the carry from the truck before the first box moves.
Older houses show their age in the garage. The city's parking table asks a one-car garage of a house built before June 1963 with fewer than five bedrooms, and two for one built after. If your one-car garage doubles as the storage room, count its shelves and bins when you describe the move, because they take real time to load.
Backyard units are the newer layer. Fullerton logged 67 accessory dwelling unit applications in the first eight months of 2021, and its housing plan expects about 100 a year through 2029. A move into or out of an ADU often runs down a side yard and through a gate, so measure the narrowest point of that path: a sofa that clears the front door can still stall at the side gate.
Fullerton's zoning builds garages into its apartment complexes: multi-family development in the R-G, R-3R, R-3, R-3P and R-4 zones needs one and a quarter to two garage spaces per unit plus open guest parking. Complexes built under that rule come with rows of garage doors and a limited number of guest stalls. A box truck will not fit under a residential garage door, so the parking plan gets settled before the date: guest stalls, a loading area if the property has one, or the curb out front, whichever the manager allows.
A container is a different question from a truck. The city requires an encroachment permit for most work in the public right-of-way, and that right-of-way includes the street. If you are weighing a rented storage container at the curb instead of in your driveway, ask the Public Works Engineering Division at City Hall before you order one.
Hiring a Fullerton moving company for a condo or a managed building means paperwork before furniture. If the association or the management office asks for a certificate of insurance, SOS issues one for $50; forward us the exact wording the office wants on it. Elevator time, a loading area and any move-in window are booked by you with the building, and we time the crew's arrival to what you reserved.
Two jobs belong on your list. First, clear out what is not coming: Republic Services, the city's trash hauler, takes bulk-pickup requests online, and an old couch that leaves with the bulk pickup is one less item for the crew to carry. Second, walk the path from your door to where the truck will stand and tell us about gates, steps and slopes, so the right number of movers shows up.
Downtown and the corridors around it are where Fullerton builds up instead of out. The Transportation Center Specific Plan allows 45 to 60 units per acre, and the housing plan lists 142 apartment and live-work units finished at 770 S. Harbor Boulevard and a 290-unit building with ground-floor commercial space under way at 600 W. Commonwealth Avenue when it was written. Buildings like these run on elevator reservations and garage clearances, with the truck loading at the street or a designated spot.
The east side keeps the university's calendar. Cal State Fullerton occupies the land between State College Boulevard, Nutwood Avenue, Yorba Linda Boulevard and the 57, it expected more than 45,000 students in fall 2025, and the city's housing plan traces a concentration of students living in the surrounding area. Many moves here are apartment moves with beds and desks to take apart and put back together. In 2025 most classes started on Aug. 25, so if your lease follows the school year, book late August early.
The north end rises into the East and West Coyote Hills, and the city's housing plan confines seismic landslide risk to their steeper slopes. On a moving day, slope means sloped driveways, longer carries and heavy pieces that have to be held back on the way down. The crew parks on the flattest legal spot, walks the path before loading and keeps two movers on anything heavy going downhill.
| Area or home type in Fullerton | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Mid-rise buildings near the Transportation Center | Elevator booking, garage clearance, a spot for the truck, a certificate of insurance if the office asks |
| R-G garden complexes beside house streets | One or two floors of outdoor stairs and a long walk from guest parking |
| Apartments around Cal State Fullerton | School-year leases, beds and desks to take apart, late-August dates worth booking early |
| Homes in the East and West Coyote Hills | Sloped driveways, longer carries, extra hands for heavy pieces |
| Houses built before June 1963 | A one-car garage that may hold a room's worth of storage |
| Backyard ADUs | The side-yard path and gate width decide what fits |
Fullerton is about 19 miles from our base on Jillson Street via I-5, around 27 minutes without traffic. The peaks are the variable: I-5 through southeast Los Angeles County slows in both rush hours, and in town the 91 across the south end and the 57 along the east side are the stretches to watch. BNSF, Union Pacific and Metrolink trains also run through the city, one more reason to leave slack between a morning pickup and an afternoon delivery.
We work 8AM – 6PM, Monday through Sunday. That makes a morning booking the smart call for a full house, so the unloading can wrap up before the evening rush, while a small apartment fits an afternoon slot; same-day moves happen when a crew is free. Fullerton sits inside 30 miles of the base, so the minimum is 3 hours, and as our rates page puts it, double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
Office movers in Fullerton work in a job market led by classrooms and production floors: the city's housing plan names education and social services as the largest industry for working residents, about 22 percent, with manufacturing second at about 13. Whatever the office, a school or nonprofit suite or the front office of a shop, our commercial moving crews take workstations apart, pad and wrap equipment and, since we work weekends, can move a business on Saturday so it opens Monday.
Long hauls leave town on the freeways at its edges. The 57 runs past the campus and on through Brea toward the 60 and I-10, and the 91 crosses the south end of the city. If you are comparing Fullerton long-distance movers, check the federal numbers first: ours are USDOT 3398018 and MC 1153871, and our long-distance crews pad and wrap for the whole trip, not just a ride across town.
Downsizing has its own rhythm. The city's senior housing includes Amerige Villa, with 100 one-bedroom apartments, and Klimpel Manor, with 59, and going from a family house to one bedroom means sorting before the truck arrives. Packing help can cover just the things that are going, leaving the rest for family, donation or the bulk pickup. If a piano is part of the household, its move has its own page: piano moves in Fullerton.
Harbor Boulevard is the straight line into Anaheim: OCTA's Route 543 rapid bus starts at the Fullerton Transportation Center and runs down Harbor through Anaheim, and Anaheim's general plan counts Fullerton among its bordering cities. A move between the two can run on Harbor most of the way.
Placentia is, in the words of Fullerton's housing plan, immediately adjacent, and Brea lists Fullerton along its southern edge, with the 57 running through the middle of town. The three cities even share a park: Tri-City Park sits entirely inside Placentia and was set up in 1974 by Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and the county, so a move across any of these lines is a short hop, not a trip.
