Valencia is not a city of its own. It is one of four communities, with Saugus, Newhall and Canyon Country, that incorporated in 1987 as the City of Santa Clarita, in northern Los Angeles County. It grew as a planned community, one village at a time, and hiring movers in Valencia means working with that plan: it decides where a truck can stop and how far a sofa travels on foot.
The plan's signature is the paseo network: landscaped walking and bike paths that cross the main roads on bridges or through tunnels, so people reach schools, parks and shops without meeting traffic. The city's trail rules bar motorized vehicles, so a moving truck never drives onto a paseo. When a home fronts or backs onto one, the truck waits on the nearest street and the crew walks the route first, checking slopes and turns before the dollies roll. Pads, floor runners and doorway covers go down before the first piece leaves the house.
Many villages also have homeowners associations, and their rules reach the curb. The published rules of the Valencia Northbridge association let only conventional passenger vehicles stay on its streets, alleys and driveways. A commercial truck, defined there as anything over one-ton capacity or built or marked for business, may park only temporarily, for services or for loading and unloading. Tesoro del Valle, a hillside community with its own association, includes a gated section, so gate access has to be arranged before the truck arrives.
On public streets inside Santa Clarita, chapter 12.94 of the municipal code bars oversized vehicles from residential, commercial, industrial and business-park zones. A vehicle counts as oversized when it meets two of three limits: 23 feet long, 8 feet high, 7 feet wide. The same chapter lets a vehicle stay while it is being loaded or unloaded, which is exactly the work a moving truck does at the curb. Red curbs, hydrants and a neighbor's driveway stay off limits, so the parking plan starts with a clear stretch of curb or your own driveway.
Inside an association like Northbridge, streets and alleys are part of the association's property, so its rules come first. Some addresses with a Valencia name sit outside city limits altogether: the Newhall Ranch plan, marketed as FivePoint Valencia, is a Los Angeles County plan, and county records place its first village, Mission Village, in unincorporated territory. The city chapter does not reach those streets, which is why any Valencia moving company should know which side of the line your address falls on.
Every crew leaves from our one base, at 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles. Valencia is about 41.1 miles up I-5 from there, around 50 minutes without traffic: north past the SR-14 interchange to the McBean Parkway, Valencia Boulevard and Magic Mountain Parkway exits. Because that is more than 30 miles from the base, the minimum here is 4 hours instead of 3, and, as our rates page puts it, double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
We work Monday through Sunday, 8AM to 6PM, and a Valencia job has to fit the drive, the loading and the unloading inside those hours. Weekday rush hour on I-5 is what stretches the drive, so a full house fits most comfortably into an early slot. One exit carries a different crowd: Six Flags Magic Mountain sits on Magic Mountain Parkway, and the park's own directions send visitors off I-5 there. If you live near that interchange, expect visitor traffic on days the park is open and leave some slack in the arrival time.
If you are comparing Valencia piano movers, ask each one how the instrument will get from the truck to your door. Where the walk to the house runs along a paseo, or the lot sits on a slope in the Tesoro del Valle hills, that last stretch is the real work. SOS moves pianos only with a four-person crew, with a $200 piano charge; the rest is on our piano moving service page.
Valencia is also a place of work. The Valencia Industrial Center lies just east of I-5, Rye Canyon Business Park sits beside it, and the Valencia Commerce Center fills the northwest corner of the I-5 and SR-126 junction, with office and industrial space in all three. For businesses there, our moving services in Valencia run on the same seven-day hours, and a building manager who asks for a certificate of insurance gets one. Office and warehouse moves are covered on our commercial moving page.
The rest of Santa Clarita shares Valencia's municipal code, so a move to or from Saugus, Newhall or Canyon Country follows the same curb rules; see our page on moving in Santa Clarita. To the south, Northridge and Chatsworth sit on the San Fernando Valley side of the same corridor: the direct route between them and Valencia runs down I-5 past the SR-14 interchange, so the rush-hour advice above applies there too.
| Area or home type in Valencia | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Homes on or behind a paseo | No motor vehicles on the path: the truck parks on the nearest street, and furniture goes by dolly along the walkway. |
| HOA villages such as Valencia Northbridge | Trucks may stand only temporarily, to load and unload; get the board's moving rules and the COI wording in advance. |
| Hillside tracts in Tesoro del Valle | Sloped lots and a gated section: arrange gate access and a level spot for the truck. |
| Mission Village and later Newhall Ranch villages | Unincorporated county land: the city's chapter 12.94 does not apply, so county and HOA rules decide where the truck stands. |
| Valencia Industrial Center, Rye Canyon, Valencia Commerce Center | Office and industrial buildings: reserve the loading area with property management; weekends fit our Monday–Sunday hours. |
| Streets near Magic Mountain Parkway | The Six Flags exit: on park days, allow extra time for the truck's arrival. |
