Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.

Placentia, in north Orange County, has about 17,200 housing units, and the city's certified Housing Element counts 59% of them as detached single-family houses. Add condos and townhomes and the single-family share climbs to 70.4%, against 61.7% for the six-county SCAG region, and about 65% of homes are owner-occupied. For movers in Placentia, that means most jobs start at a front door and a driveway, not a lobby. The crew pads furniture in the garage or on the driveway, lays floor runners from the entry to the bedrooms and covers door frames before the first dresser comes out.
The newer homes stack up instead of spreading out. Projects the Housing Element lists as approved include 139 three-story townhomes at 455 S. Van Buren Street and 16 townhomes in four three-story buildings at Orchard Drive and Highland Avenue, the second on a former oil extraction site. In a three-story townhome the bedrooms often sit two flights above the garage, with landings where a sectional has to pivot. Beds, desks and dining tables come apart before they meet the stairs, and the handrail and landing walls get padded first.
Rentals, about 35% of homes, split in two. The Housing Element concedes that Placentia's multifamily height limits can keep a project from reaching three stories, so in the older complexes a stair carry is more likely than an elevator ride. The new buildings on Crowther Avenue go the other way: approved plans include a five-story, 215-unit complex at 150 E. Crowther with a six-story parking garage, and a five-story building with 189 affordable units at 207–209 W. Crowther. There the client books the elevator and a loading time with management, SOS supplies the certificate of insurance, and the apartment moving service page explains how the crew handles both kinds of building.
Placentia keeps its mobile home parks on purpose. They are zoned MHP, and the Housing Element notes that turning one into anything else would take a zone change. Inside a park the lanes are private and park management has a say in where a truck can stand, so the client confirms that spot ahead of the move, and the crew pads each piece before it squeezes through a narrow mobile home door.
Around Old Town, the curb runs on a clock. Ordinance O-2024-02, adopted in March 2024, sets a two-hour limit from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., where signs are posted, on Bradford Avenue between Chapman and Santa Fe, on Santa Fe Avenue between Bradford and Walnut, on Main Street south of Santa Fe and on Crowther Avenue from Melrose Street to SR-57. The old code gave Sundays and holidays a pass; the 2024 update took that away.
A 3-hour minimum job can outlast a two-hour sign. So for an address on those blocks we settle the truck's spot with the client before moving day: a driveway, a private lot with the owner's permission, or a question the client takes to the Placentia Police Department, which issues the permits the ordinance refers to. Wherever the city posts restricted hours, the only exception is the immediate loading or unloading of passengers or materials. A truck that waits while furniture gets wrapped indoors is hard to call immediate, so long loads stay off those curbs during the posted hours.
Residential streets get swept twice a month, and the schedule sits on signs at the entrance to each street or tract, in the form of "first and third Monday" or "second and fourth Wednesday." On those days parking is banned for the posted hours whether or not the sweeper has come through yet, and tickets are written under Municipal Code section 13.48.220. When we plan the day, we ask the client what that sign says; on a sweeping day the truck takes the driveway or the load starts after the posted window.
About one Placentia home in nine is an attached townhome or condo, which is the gap between the 59% and 70.4% figures. Those usually come with an HOA, and associations commonly ask for a certificate of insurance and a set move time. SOS issues the COI for $50; the client handles the HOA move form, any elevator or gate booking and a cleared driveway or curb space for the truck.
Old Town was founded in 1910 as the city's business district, around the Placentia train depot and the citrus packing houses, and the three blocks of Santa Fe Avenue between Bradford and Walnut are still its historic core. Many buildings there have shops downstairs and apartments upstairs, like the row from 120 to 128 W. Santa Fe. Moving out of one of those units means a staircase from a street door and a truck on the two-hour curb, so boxes and pads get staged by the door before the heavy pieces come down.
Shops and offices on those blocks face the same curb, and after the 2024 update, closing for a Sunday or holiday move no longer frees the street. Office and retail relocations are covered on our commercial moving service page.
South of the tracks, the Packing House District covers about 110 acres of former manufacturing land between the BNSF line and Orangethorpe Avenue, east of SR-57. The city rezoned it in 2017 for apartments and mixed use, which is where the Crowther Avenue buildings come from. A move there looks more like a big-city move: a garage entrance, a loading spot assigned by management and an elevator that has to be booked.
West La Jolla Street shows the infill up close: the Housing Element lists two three-story, ten-unit projects there, one on a lot that held a single pre-1970s house. Where those go up next to older homes, a driveway load and a stair carry can sit a few doors apart, and each gets its own plan for the truck.
Along Alta Vista Street between Rose Drive and Jefferson Street, the city approved 100 detached two-story houses on a former oil extraction site. New construction means new floors and fresh paint, so runners and door-jamb covers go down before anything is carried, and upstairs bedroom sets come apart in the bedroom rather than on the stairs.

All of our moving services in Placentia start from one place: 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles, about 22.8 miles away by I-5 and then SR-91, around 30 minutes without traffic. Rush hours stretch that. I-5 through southeast Los Angeles County and SR-91 through Fullerton and Anaheim both clog on weekday commutes, the eastbound 91 most of all in the late afternoon. With a working day of 8AM to 6PM, an early Placentia start puts the truck in the morning rush and a late unload meets the evening one, so the start time gets set with the freeway in mind.
Placentia sits under 30 miles from the base, so the minimum is 3 hours; the 4-hour minimum starts at 30 miles. On the bill, double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
Off the freeway, freight trains matter less than they once did. OCTA's OC Bridges program put seven road crossings of the BNSF line in Anaheim, Fullerton and Placentia above or below the tracks, among them Kraemer Boulevard, Placentia Avenue, Orangethorpe Avenue and Tustin Avenue/Rose Drive, so a loaded truck no longer waits at a lowered gate there. Placentia's Public Works department also wants trucks on marked truck routes until they have to turn off toward the destination, so our trucks ride the arterials and turn onto the home street last.
Three neighbors share more than a border with Placentia. Yorba Linda shares a school district: the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District came out of a 1989 merger and serves both cities, so a family can change cities without changing districts. Brea, to the north, was one of the founders of the joint authority behind Tri-City Park, the 40-acre park with an 8-acre lake that lies entirely inside Placentia.
Anaheim, to the south, sits on the same BNSF corridor where OC Bridges built its crossings, and PYLUSD's boundary reaches into part of the city. The SR-91 end of our route also passes through Anaheim before the turn north into Placentia.
