Temple City, a Los Angeles County city in the San Gabriel Valley, is a town of houses. Its 2021–2029 Housing Element counts 88.1 percent of the city's 12,369 homes as single-family, and 57.7 percent of all units are more than 60 years old, with the 1950s as the biggest building decade. For movers in Temple City, that usually means a mid-century house, often with older floors and doorways framed for smaller furniture than people own now. The crew lays runners from the front door, pads the frames, and takes legs and doors off big pieces in the room rather than in the doorway.
