Your apartment moving cost depends on factors, such as the type and size of your property, the complexity of your move, the number of bedrooms, the volume of your items, zip code, etc. At SOS Moving, we offer flat and hourly rates. The hourly rate depends on the number of movers to be involved and the size of the moving truck. Flat rate is based on the volume of belongings you need to move, and it’s the best option for long-distance moves. To know your moving cost, please contact us or submit a form on our website to request your free quote.
You should schedule your move date as early as you can. If you’re moving locally, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, for long-distance moves, we recommend getting a quote at least 2-4 weeks before your move date.
You can choose any convenient day for your relocation, and yes, we can help you move on weekends and holidays.
A safe relocation is our goal, so we’ll provide you with a detailed list of items that are prohibited to transport. It includes perishables, hazardous materials, firearms, batteries, etc. We also don’t recommend packing your personal and irreplaceable items, including family heirlooms, family photos, jewelry, documents, etc. Carry them with you during the move.
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, and certified checks. We don’t accept personal checks. There will not apply any transaction fee on card transactions.
Yes, we’ll contact you prior to delivery. We’ll deliver your belongings within the given moving arrival window. In case the window is no longer possible, we’ll also contact you in advance and set another delivery time.
Inglewood is a city of renters. Census estimates that SCAG, the regional planning agency, compiled for the city's housing plan count 64.4 percent of households renting, against 47.5 percent across the Southern California region, and buildings of five or more units hold more homes than any other type. More often than not, a move in this Los Angeles County city starts at an apartment door, with a hallway and a flight of stairs between the unit and the truck. In a managed building the tenant books the elevator or loading area and we supply a certificate of insurance for $50 when management asks; the rest is what our apartment moving service is built around.
The buildings are older than many newcomers expect. In the same estimates, the 1950s were the busiest decade for construction, and more than half of the homes counted went up before 1960. For the crew that means pads on every piece, runners over the floors, covers on door frames and railings, and bed frames or tables taken apart when a mid-century stairwell turn is too tight to carry them whole.
Inglewood runs a citywide residential permit parking program. On streets inside an active district the restriction is full-time, every day of the week, and a vehicle without a permit may stay up to two hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The city's FAQ is plain about service vehicles: if the work takes longer than two hours, the provider needs a permit through the visitor permit program.
A move with a 3-hour minimum is bound to outlast that grace period, so we ask the resident at each address to request a one-day visitor permit for the truck through the city's parking permit portal before moving day. The daytime allowance also ends at 5 p.m., an hour before our working day does, which matters most for afternoon starts.
Holidays normally switch enforcement off, with one exception written into the program: if SoFi Stadium, the Forum or the Clippers arena has an event that day, the rules stay on. If you are planning a holiday move, check the venue calendars first.
Street sweeping is the second layer. Residential blocks are swept once a week, Monday through Friday, within an 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. window; the posted sign names the day, and the two sides of a street are swept on different days. On a weekday move the truck parks on the side that is not being swept, even if that adds a few steps with the dolly.
Two permits get mixed up. The city's "Moving Permit" is for hauling an oversized load through Inglewood, not a curb reservation for a household move. The one a move is more likely to run into is the encroachment permit, which the city requires for a trash container or construction bin placed in the street, so a pre-move cleanout with a curbside dumpster needs one.
Hillcrest, part of Downtown, is what the city's transit plan calls its most established and affluent residential neighborhood: stately, traditional-style homes along the tree-lined median of Hillcrest Boulevard. The median decides the approach, because the truck has to come in on the lanes next to the house. Bigger, older houses also mean more furniture to wrap and more floor to cover.
Queen Street, on Downtown's west side, belongs to a larger residential area that runs west to the 405. The same plan describes it as mostly R-4 zoning with a large share of apartments, so plan it as a permit-district apartment move: a visitor permit for the truck, stairs, and a clear path from the entrance to the curb.
Fairview Heights, on the east side where Florence Avenue reaches the city limit at West Boulevard, is a historic neighborhood the city intends to preserve, with its own Metro K Line station. The 2016 plan for the area noted traffic dividers on Long and Gay Streets that block through traffic, so the driver works out the approach to your door before the truck leaves the base.
The Entertainment District, with SoFi Stadium at Hollywood Park, the Forum and the Clippers arena, changes the math around Prairie Avenue. By the city's count, a single Forum concert draws up to 17,000 people to the edge of Downtown, and the event transportation plan steers fans to the bus lines on Prairie Avenue, Century Boulevard and Manchester Boulevard. If your address is near those streets, pick a date without a game or a show.
| Area or housing type in Inglewood | What to plan for on moving day |
|---|---|
| Hillcrest, in Downtown | Tree-lined median on Hillcrest Boulevard: the truck arrives on the house's side; older homes need floor and door-frame protection |
| Queen Street area toward the 405 | Mostly apartments on permit-district streets: a one-day visitor permit for the truck, stairs, a clear path to the curb |
| Fairview Heights | Traffic dividers on Long and Gay Streets, noted in the 2016 plan: map the route to the door in advance |
| Streets near SoFi Stadium, the Forum and the Clippers arena | Check event calendars; permit rules stay on during holiday events |
| Any residential block with a sweeping sign | Weekly sweeping on the posted weekday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.: park on the other side |
Every crew leaves from our only base, at 5530 Jillson Street in Los Angeles. To Inglewood it is about 18.7 miles, south on the I-710 and then west on the I-105, or around 27 minutes without traffic. Both freeways slow down in the morning and late-afternoon rush, and on event days the traffic near the venues stacks on top of that.
Our moving services in Inglewood run Monday through Sunday, 8AM to 6PM, so a morning start lets the loading happen before the afternoon rush builds. Inglewood is well inside 30 miles of the base, so the minimum is 3 hours, not 4, and, as our rates page puts it, double drive time applies to moves over 10 miles.
Two neighbors share the freeway. Hawthorne is just across the 105 to the south, with Prairie Avenue running from the stadium district straight into it, and El Segundo sits at the 105's western end beside LAX. Anyone hiring movers in Inglewood for a move to either city is booking a short local job on roads the crews already use to get here.
