SOS Moving handles moving and storage in Long Beach with a single call: the same crew wraps your furniture, loads it at your door, holds it in a climate-controlled facility and delivers it back once the next address is ready. It is the storage service we run from our Los Angeles base, planned around Long Beach dates and streets, and our movers serving Long Beach can fold it into the rest of your move.
Storage enters a move here for ordinary reasons. A lease wraps up days before the next one starts, a bungalow restoration needs empty rooms, or a job in another state begins before the house there closes. Each of those calls for somewhere dry and watched for your things, and for a way to get them there without renting a truck.
With us you never drive to a storage lot or carry a box into a unit. No container sits on your street for days either: whatever the crew loads goes onto our truck and on to the facility, and it is listed on an inventory before it leaves the house.

A few days up to a few weeks, with no minimum stay. It covers the stretch between handing back one set of keys and receiving the next, a house staged for buyers, or interior work that wraps up within a couple of weeks. We load on the morning you hand back the keys and deliver once you phone in the move-in date.
A month or longer. Owners use it for a restoration that keeps rooms empty through a season, households moving into a smaller place keep pieces they have not decided on yet, and small businesses park inventory or files. If the project runs past the planned date, the term is extended without any penalty.
Built for households leaving Long Beach for another state before the destination home is ready. Your things ride with us, wait at our facility and go out to the new address once you have a delivery date, and you avoid hiring a separate storage company at the destination.

Our facility holds temperature and humidity steady all year. That keeps solid-wood furniture from warping, keeps moisture away from electronics and stops mold from settling into upholstery and linens. The space is monitored and secured for the whole term.
Typical loads include beds and mattresses, sofas and dressers, appliances, TVs and computers, framed art, boxes of holiday decorations, paperwork, and a shop's stock or office furniture. We turn away anything flammable or corrosive, explosives, propane tanks and batteries, perishable food, live plants, and things that draw pests or tend to mildew. Not sure about one item? Ask during the estimate.

Both moving legs, the pickup and the return, are billed by the hour at our standard rates. Monday through Thursday, two movers with a truck cost $119 an hour in cash or $129 by card, three movers $159 or $169, and four movers $199 or $209. Friday through Sunday the same crews run $135 or $145, $175 or $185, and $215 or $225.
Crew time has a 3-hour minimum, a $30 gas fee is added, and a $50 deposit reserves the date and is subtracted from the final invoice. Every job starts from our base on Jillson Street in Los Angeles, so two travel rules can apply: drive time is doubled when the address lies more than 10 miles away, and the minimum becomes 4 hours at 30 miles or more. We tell you which of them applies when we quote; we do not estimate mileage on this page.
The storage term is priced on its own, by the space your inventory takes and the length of the stay, so that figure comes with the estimate rather than as a flat number here. A certificate of insurance for your building is $50, overnight storage for a load that waits until the next morning is $200, and hours past eight in one day are billed as overtime.

Onto our truck and straight to our climate-controlled, monitored facility; no container is left on your street. They stay there, listed on your inventory, until you call with a delivery date.
Yes. Exterior work in a historic district needs a Certificate of Appropriateness before it begins, so start dates can slide. We pick up when the rooms really have to be empty, and you can extend the term without penalty if the approval or the work takes longer.
Crew time on both trips is hourly: Monday to Thursday, the rate for two movers with a truck begins at $119 an hour in cash, with a 3-hour minimum and a $30 gas fee. Drive time counts double for an address beyond 10 miles of our Los Angeles base, and at 30 miles or more the minimum becomes 4 hours. The storage term itself is quoted at the estimate, once we know how much you are storing.
Yes. Call us and we will either arrange a visit to the facility or bring that item out to you. Name it from your inventory list so the crew can find it quickly.
Yes. In-transit storage exists for exactly that: we load in Long Beach, hold everything until the house in the new state can take it, and deliver on the date you give us. The interstate part is priced as a flat rate under USDOT 3398018 and MC 1153871.
Pickups can be booked on any of the seven days, 8AM to 6PM, and a Saturday or Sunday date is billed at the Friday to Sunday rates. A same-day pickup works when a crew is free; call 909-443-0004 in the morning to check.
Hardly anyone sets out to store their furniture. The call comes when the day you must be out and the day you can get in are not the same day. Everything else about the move stays ordinary, which is why storage works best as one more leg of the move rather than a separate errand you run with a rented van.
In this city the usual gaps look like this:
Downsizing is the case people underestimate. A move from a house to an apartment rarely comes with a clear list of what fits, and storage buys the time to decide without selling a dining set in a hurry. Once the new rooms are furnished, we bring over the pieces you picked, and the rest can stay stored or come out on a later trip.
Each case calls for a different term, and each is simpler when the people who wrap your things are the ones who bring them back. That is the core of how SOS runs climate-controlled storage: one company, one inventory and one phone number from pickup to return.
Short-term storage suits gaps you can count in days or weeks. There is no minimum stay and no long commitment, so three nights between two leases are handled as easily as three weeks. Book it when both dates are firm or when the only open question is the exact move-in day.
Long-term storage starts at a month and suits projects with soft end dates: a restoration, a house on the market, a year spent working elsewhere. Pick it when you would rather not re-book every few weeks. You can extend at any point without a penalty, so there is no need to guess the full length on the first day.
In-transit storage belongs to interstate moves. The load leaves the city with us, waits at our facility and goes to the destination when the new home can take it. If that sounds like your plan, our team for out-of-state moves from Long Beach quotes the road portion as a flat rate, and the storage stretch becomes part of the same plan.
Small businesses use the same three options. A shop clearing its back room for a remodel, or an office holding files while it settles into a smaller suite, books long-term storage and asks for single boxes as needed.
Torn between two terms? Start with the shorter one. Adding time later costs a phone call, not a fee.
A storage pickup moves faster when the rooms are ready. The crew brings blankets, shrink wrap, padding and wardrobe boxes, but the sorting is yours: what goes to storage, what goes with you to the next address and what stays behind for good.
If you would like the boxing done for you as well, our packing help for Long Beach homes can handle the kitchen, books and closets before the truck is loaded. Boxes run from $4 each, billed only for those the crew actually fills, while tape and stretch wrap carry no charge.
Take photos of anything with loose parts, such as a bed frame or a desk with shelves, before it is taken apart. Pictures also help you decide where each piece should stand when it comes back.
Long Beach protects its historic districts through a review process, and that process shapes a storage plan more than most owners expect. The empty-house date depends on paperwork as much as on the contractor, because exterior work cannot begin until the Certificate of Appropriateness is issued.
Scale changes the calendar too. A second story or an addition over 250 square feet is heard by the Cultural Heritage Commission, and a hearing brings its own schedule. Projects kept entirely indoors, with nothing changing on the outside, avoid historic review, so those are the easiest to time.
Our advice is to set the pickup for when the contractor truly needs the rooms, not for the day you apply. Start with long-term storage if the project touches the exterior, and keep the return open. When the crew comes back, it puts floor protection down again, since newly refinished floors scratch more easily than anything else in the house.
Neighborhoods such as Rose Park, filled with Craftsman bungalows in the 1910s and early 1920s, are the kind of place where this sequence plays out. Tell us which rooms the work reaches first; we can clear those and leave the rest for a second visit if that suits the project.
A storage job is really two moves separated by time. The first trip carries everything from your home to our facility; the second takes it to the next address, which may be across town, in a neighboring city or in another state. Each trip is scheduled separately within our 8AM – 6PM working day, weekends included.
Pick up early in the week if the dates allow: Monday to Thursday rates are lower than Friday to Sunday for every crew size. For the return, call when the move-in date is firm and give us a few days. When you need a pickup on short notice, ask anyway, because same-day jobs are possible whenever a crew is free.
Parking deserves a thought on both ends. If either address is on a block inside a preferential parking district, let us know at booking and we will work out where the truck will stand, and if the new building has a loading area or elevator, reserve it for the delivery day as well as for the pickup.
Both trips use the I-710 between our Los Angeles base and the city, and the travel rules work the same way in each direction. If the next home is also in town, the return is a plain local delivery, and our local crews for Long Beach moves can quote both ends together.
Crew time is the biggest variable. It grows with the number of pieces, the stairs and the walk between the front door and the truck, and it shrinks when boxes are packed, rooms are sorted and a parking spot is waiting. A crew of four costs more per hour yet often finishes a large house in fewer hours than two movers would.
The return trip can run quicker than the pickup, because everything is already wrapped and listed. Most of that time goes to carrying pieces in, unwrapping them and setting furniture where you want it.
Fixed charges are few and known in advance: the $30 gas fee, a $50 deposit credited to the bill, a $50 insurance certificate when the building requires one, and $200 for a second truck when one is not enough. Pieces heavier than 300 lbs carry a $150 charge and need a crew of three.
The storage term is the other half of the price, set by the space your inventory fills and by the length of the stay. We give you that number at the estimate. To weigh a combined service against renting space and hauling it yourself, see our article on combining a move with storage in Los Angeles.
For a quote, call 909-443-0004 with a rough list of what you are storing, the pickup address and the date you have to be out.
